Lima, Peru
Fausto is a secret worth knowing about. Just five rooms in a 1920s townhouse on a tree-lined street in Miraflores, one block from the ocean, with an open kitchen, a rooftop terrace and the feeling of staying in a stylish friend’s home. Small as it is, it already holds a Michelin Key.
The Property
The house is an elegant 1920s neoclassical home, carefully preserved by Andean, the Peruvian team behind Atemporal, Titilaka and Cirqa. Instead of rebuilding, they kept its original layout and bedrooms, and filled it with contemporary design, local art and vintage pieces.
Life happens in the “sala”, a living room that opens onto a tiled patio full of plants, and in the open kitchen, where a fridge stocked with snacks, fruit, charcuterie and drinks and an honesty bar are available to guests around the clock. There is also a rooftop terrace, a yoga patio and bikes to borrow. Breakfast is included, with homemade bread and jams plus a dish cooked to order.
Why It’s Here
Staying in Fausto is closer to staying in a friend’s townhouse than in a hotel. With only five rooms, a kitchen you can help yourself from and breakfast in the living room, it’s quiet, personal and beautifully done. It comes from Andean, the team behind CIRQA, Puqio and Titilaka, and you can feel the same attention to detail in something much smaller.
The Rooms
All rooms have a smart TV, a sound system, air-conditioning and heating, a coffee kit, walk-in rain showers and local handmade bath products.
Pequeña: The smallest and most minimal room, with a double bed, a desk and a chair.
Mediana: Bright rooms with a queen bed and a private terrace or patio, reached through a high arched doorway.
Grande: The standout room, with a four-poster king bed, a sitting area and a freestanding Italian marble bathtub in the bedroom.
Grande Familiar: A king room with a separate living space, a good option for longer stays.
My recommendation: The Grande. It is much larger than the other rooms, and the four-poster bed and the marble bathtub are what make Fausto special. If it is booked, a Mediana with its own terrace is a lovely second choice. I would skip the Pequeña unless it is a single night before a flight.
Ideal For
Couples and solo travelers who love small, personal places and would rather feel at home than in a hotel. Fausto is a house, not a full-service hotel: five rooms, breakfast in the living room, an honesty bar in the kitchen and some of Lima’s best restaurants a short ride away.
It isn’t for everyone. Most rooms are compact (only the Grande and Grande Familiar feel spacious), and there’s no restaurant, pool, spa or gym. If you want room service, a lobby bar or resort facilities, a larger hotel will suit you better. Families with one child can fit in the Grande Familiar, but there’s nothing specific for kids, and it’s not ideal for travelers with limited mobility.
