Atemporal

Lima, Peru

On a quiet, leafy street in Miraflores, Atemporal feels less like a hotel and more like being the guest of a well-traveled friend with impeccable taste. With only nine rooms, an honesty bar and a garden full of hummingbirds, it is a deeply personal place to stay in Lima.

The Property

Atemporal occupies a restored 1940s Tudor-style mansion, a classic Lima “casona”, and was created by Andean, the same team behind Hotel B, Titilaka and Cirqa. The owner filled the house with contemporary art and antiques collected on his travels, and kept its original wooden floors and vintage architecture.

The atmosphere is that of a private home: a salon with an honesty bar, a library with coffee and tea available all day, a terraced garden where breakfast is served, and an afternoon tea spread every day. There are bicycles and board games to borrow, a small 24-hour room service menu, and a house Mini with a driver for short trips around the neighborhood.

Why It’s Here

Atemporal is the choice for a slower, more residential side of the city. It is the alternative for travelers who want the service of a luxury hotel without the size of one. Everything that usually costs extra, from the drinks to the afternoon tea, is part of the stay, and you’re treated like a houseguest rather than a room number.

It also solves the real reason most people stop in Lima: to eat. It’s close to some of the city’s best restaurants, but on a quiet residential street, so the hotel feels like a calm place to come back to between meals.

The Rooms

All rooms are individually decorated with local art and antiques, with walk-in showers, organic Atemporal toiletries, smart TVs and air-conditioning. Twin beds are available on request.

  • Cosy: The most compact rooms, with a queen bed and a small desk or seating area.

  • Charming: More space and light, with large windows, a reading corner or chaise longue and, in some, a small terrace.

  • Grand: The largest room in the house, with a king bed, a living area with a fireplace, a freestanding bathtub and a double walk-in shower.

My recommendation: The Charming. The Cosy rooms are small and best for one night, while a Charming room gives you light, space and often a terrace without a big price jump. For a honeymoon or a longer stay, the Grand is worth it: the fireplace and the bathtub make it feel like your own apartment in Lima.

Ideal For

Couples, honeymooners, design lovers and travelers who prefer a quiet, personal stay over a large hotel. A perfect base for a few days of eating your way through Lima. Less ideal for families with young children (it is best suited to teens and up) or for travelers who want a pool, a spa or a gym.

Good to Know

  • Location: Miraflores, on a quiet residential street a few blocks from the ocean, steps from the Huaca Pucllana and MAC Lima

  • Nearest airport: Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM), Lima

  • Getting there: About 45 minutes to an hour by car from the airport, depending on traffic.

  • Price: From around $350 per night, breakfast included

  • Good to keep in mind: The house closes for a few days at the end of January.

  • Tip: Ask for a garden table at breakfast to watch the hummingbirds.
